Country singer Toby Keith revealed on Instagram a recent diagnosis of stomach cancer and how he’s been doing as a result of it. “Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer,” he wrote in a note on Twitter. “I’ve spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation, and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax. I am looking forward to spending this time with my family, but I will see the fans sooner than later. I can’t wait.”

Toky Keith’s foundation has been helping children with cancer since 2006 offering no cost housing for them. Inspired by St. Jude’s Research Hospital, he created the OK Kids Korral in his home state of Oklahoma which includes 16 suites, indoor and outdoor playgrounds, a chapel, theater and storm shelter. He’s referred to it as “probably the best thing, outside my family, I’ll ever do” to The Boot.
With all of his cancer philanthropy, it’s rather ironic that he ended up getting it himself, but at least he is in treatment. He announced performing at Coachella Crossroads in California in November but it isn’t clear whether that’s still on or not.
