Tommy Tiny Lister, who played Deebo in Friday passed away last December from what was believed to have been COVID. A report from the L.A. County Medical Examiner has revealed that was not exactly the case. Apparently the autopsy revealed that while he did in fact have COVID weeks prior to his passing, the autopsy showed that what he died of washypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, also known as heart disease.

Even though Lister had a cotton swab COVID test that came back positive for COVID, he had fluid on his lungs as well as an enlarged heart with high blood pressure, poor circulation in his legs and coronary artery disease. Days before his passing in a virtual chat he was clearly having breathing issues.

What is so unfortunate about this was how his manager Cindy Cowan was saying this was the best that he looked and how excited he was for future projects. “He kind of was one of those people that used the lockdown to work out and get in the best shape ever. He actually looked the best he’s ever looked and I’ve never seen him more excited about what was coming next. It’s remarkable and truly heartbreaking. All of us are kicking ourselves that we didn’t force him [to get tested] earlier.”
