Uncle Luke is not happy with the lineup for this year’s Super Bowl to put it lightly. Jennifer Lopez and Shakira are set to perform together and Luke feels so strongly about it that he penned an opinion piece for the Miami New Times saying that not only should JLo and Shakira not have been chosen, he said that neither are legends. He made an interesting point stating that Prince performed at the Super Bowl in 2007 in Miami and that JLo nor Shakira were on his level. He went on to say that he was both disrespecting Miami’s music industry and has gone as far as referring to Jay-Z as a house negro.
“Neither Lopez nor Shakira is from Miami. J. Lo is from New York City and lives in the Big Apple with her husband, former baseball player Alex Rodriguez, who grew up in Miami, although he’s quick to tell people he reps New York. Shakira may live in Miami, but like other celebrities who have a home here, she’s looking for tax breaks. Lopez and Shakira don’t get involved in social issues that concern the community. They don’t volunteer to help the needy. To me, that’s a settler. This Super Bowl is supposed to be about showcasing Miami for more reasons than one.”
Luke thinks the Super Bowl half time performance picks are so bad that Jay needs to stand up for himself because he’s clearly been played. And if he fails to do so, he should resign. Well from JLo’s hubby ARod’s Twitter account, there’s a pic of him and his wife standing with Jay-Z so it doesn’t exactly sound like he’s listening. But if you’re wondering who he thinks deserves the performance, look no further than Pitbull and Flo Rida who both happen to be from Miami. Agree or not, we’ve got to appreciate Luke for standing up for his city and having no problem taking Jay-Z and the NFL on.
