Yesterday wasn’t the best of days for R&B singer Usher Raymond and rapper Rich the Kid as they both were robbed at a Hollywood studio and 10 shots were reportedly fired as well. It happened outside of Westlake Recording Studio where witnesses have said the suspect was shooting while running away. Usher was inside of the studio with Rich inside. One of their bodyguards were reportedly “badly pistol-whipped.” Jewelry and cash were were taken but it isn’t clear exactly whose items were taken.
And here comes the reckless part of it all. Hours before the event took place, Rich The Kid had just taken a pic on Instagram of him standing outside with a giant wad of cash and dripping in jewelry. He was believed to be the target… and for obvious reasons. This season of Love & Hip Hop: New York began with Joe Budden telling Safaree how ridiculous it was for him to be robbed and then go out and buy the exact same jewelry again to make himself a target again. When Kim Kardashian was robbed and tied up in Paris, she said she wouldn’t be showing off on Instagram anymore.
With examples of others in the industry getting robbed over how they’re moving on Instagram and what not, you’d think either Rich the Kid would know better or someone would try and teach him better. It isn’t as if he hasn’t been robbed before himself. Last year he was put in the hospital after a reported robbery and assault. And it happened while he was visiting his girlfriend Tori Brixx. If he isn’t going to be more careful with how he carries himself for his own safety, he can at least do so for those around him since he seems to keep putting other people’s lives at risk with his antics.
LA County Sheriffs West Hollywood Office gave a brief statement to Radar Online saying “We are investigating an assault and robbery that occurred outside of the Westlake Recording Studio. There were reports of shots fired, that’s all we know.”
