Usher kicked off his Vegas residency Friday at Caesar’s palace in front of 4,300 people with every seat packed. TMZ reported him as still having it bad and by bad they were referring to his “humping the stage, pelvis thrusts, etc.” The stage was a makeshift version of Atlanta’s Magic City and he even had the infamous Usher Bucks being reigned down on stage. Remember that scandal where he was throwing fake money at a club? Well now that they’re incorporated into his Vegas residency, those strippers might wish they had them because they’ll likely now be worth something soon.

While Usher is every bit of the consummate performer with over 100 million reocrds sold, 8 Grammys, 9 No. 1 hits, something only beat by Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, and Elvis Presley, he does have a little something to prove. Let’s not forget that he accused one of the biggest hit makers of the last decade, T-Pain of ruining music, which means he needs to show that he himself can still both perform his music and make some more hits. He has one of the most anticipated upcoming albums of the year, his first in 5 years. The public’s watching.
