Wendy Williams made the announcement when she returned from her two month break that she was living in a sober house to deal with an alcohol and pill addition. And she’s had quite the time since she’s been there, checking herself out to get plastered after finding out her husband had not only impregnated his mistress of over 10 years but that she had given birth and has alternatively went out with and without her wedding ring. All that, however now appears to be changing soon now that she filed for divorce from him this past Thursday. She reportedly served him the divorce papers wrapped as a gift at 6:30 in the morning complete with a bow.

Since filing for divorce, Wendy said this morning on her talk show that she’s moving out of the sober house she’s been living in. “You know I’ve been dealing with issues with addiction, alcoholism and I have a whole new life that I planned for myself and my son,” spoken to a cheering audience. “Believe me you, when you lay in a room with no TV and four gray walls all day and no telephone…you lay there and you think about your life—this is my life at the sober house—it’s one of the best things honestly that could have ever happened to me. Because, you know, when you think about your life, you think about how you’ve been delivering to the world and especially here on the show,” she continued.

“You know, it’s no secret we’re friends and sometimes you don’t like me, but either way thank you for watching every day. But you know, you wear a different mask when you’re out here. Everybody has…whether you’re a secretary or a school teacher or whatever—everybody has things in their life that they’re embarrassed to share with the world. Or they’re frightened to share with the world. Or they’re not ready to share with the world. And addressing my sobriety, my addiction, head on, has really helped me sort out every single compartment of my life.”

No mention of her ex was made. She went on to say, “I have a commitment to me and my son to come out of here better, stronger and faster than ever. And by the way, I will still commit—because you’ll forget about my business any moment now—and then I commit that the motto of this show will always be, ‘Their business is our business!’ That’s right.”

The divorce came with the support of many in the industry from Sheryl Underwood to Meghan Mccain and Hoda, but it isn’t going to be easy. Her now ex, Kevin Hunter is executive producer of the Wendy Williams Show, so we can expect things to be difficult in working on the continuity of her business. He did, however tell his mistress that he couldn’t leave her because she paid all the bills at one point so he’s likely salivating over whatever settlement he gets from her $60 million fortune. When asked how she was doing during Friday’s taping by an audience member, she said “I’m not sure,” and that is completely understandable, given the circumstances.

Another major factor in Wendy’s divorce is her 18 year old son. She reportedly has been holding off on getting out of the marriage for a long time, to protect him, according to a source close to the couple. “Wendy’s biggest pain in all of this is having to put her son through a divorce, that was one of the reasons she held on for so long. But he’s 18 now and he’s in college. — There’s a feeling that she can now focus on her own life because her son is good. She’s come to accept that it’s healthier in the long run for her son and, really, for everyone, if she and Kevin are no longer together.”

We’re just glad to not only see that Wendy’s been able to take care of herself physically but that she was able to get out of an abusive relationship. She’s had a great career this far and with the support of her industry cohorts, we’re sure she won’t have a problem in navigating getting new management with her ex soon to be out of the picture.
