This summer it was reported that rapper Young Dro had been arrested for throwing pudding in his girlfriend’s face. It was followed up with about a week or so of jail coinciding with back child support payments. And when he got out he went on a meme spree mocking the situation with Bill Cosby pudding pop memes. But the situation was much more serious than that. He punched her so hard it left a bruise and he went to town on her furniture with a kitchen knife. And for that he’s received a full year sentence after pleading guilty to 1 count of battery/family violence last week. Lucky for him, he’s only being ordered to serve 70 days.
On top of the much lighter sentence than expected that Young Dro received, he’s getting credit for 20 days already served and according to a Fulton County Court official, he’ll get a day of credit for each day of good behavior he’s exhibited which means he can get out as soon as October 5th. But there’s a catch. He’s going to be required to submit to a drug/alcohol evaluation within 30 days of his release. He’s also going to have to undergo domestic violence counseling and can’t use drugs or drink alcohol while on probation. He can’t have any weapons while on probation either which if he didn’t use a gun in the incident, why should he have to give his up? That’s something to think about. Hopefully those domestic violence classes work because making headlines for slashing your girl’s furniture over alleged financial disagreements and punching her isn’t a good look. We’ll be pulling for him to get himself together.
